Package 1: Adat Perpatih Heritage Journey
This programme offers an immersive exploration of Adat Perpatih, focusing on how matrilineal governance shapes community life and fosters social cohesion.
Participants will engage with local communities, experience traditional ceremonies, and learn how these customs promote sustainable community development.
Through guided tours and workshops, the programme provides a deeper understanding of cultural heritage and the communities across nine historical districts known as “luak”.
The programme also allows participants understand the uniqueness of Adat Perpatih, explore matrilineal traditions, support cultural preservation through hands-on activities, and connect with communities to appreciate sustainable practices.

Activities
Participants will engage in:
1. Visits to Adat Perpatih traditions through a guided tour of historical sites such as Istana Seri Menanti and community landmarks, complemented by a tour guide on its origins, governance, and social structures.
2. Interactive cultural workshops featuring hands-on sessions with traditional attire, crafts, and symbolic practices including cultural experience.
3. Visits to the communities of Jempol and Kuala Pilah, where the tradition of Adat Perpatih is actively practiced. Engaging in meaningful dialogue with local elders and cultural custodians to gain deeper insights into this unique matrilineal system and its relevance in today’s society.
4.Local activities including exploring night market and support the local economy by visiting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) offering traditional crafts, food, and heritage-inspired products.
Package 2: Muslim-Friendly Hospitality & Service Excellence
This programme offers an immersive experience into the world of Halal culinary arts and hospitality, providing participants with exclusive access to Halal-certified kitchens, hotels, and food establishments.
Participants will also experience Malaysia’s vibrant food culture, traditional cooking methods, and hospitality heritage, making this an enriching journey that blends industry knowledge with cultural appreciation.
The programme aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver Muslim-friendly services across various hospitality environments.

Activities
Participants will engage in:
i) Discovering the world behind certified Halal kitchens and restaurants through exclusive Halal hotel & kitchen Tours.
ii) Halal Cooking Workshops and exploring traditional and modern Halal cuisine under the guidance of renowned chefs and culinary experts.
iii) Community and industry engagement dialogue sessions with industry leaders on future trends, and an in-depth look at the Halal certification process guided by JAKIM and industry experts.
iv) Muslim-friendly Cultural and Heritage Food Tour, exploring Malaysia’s diverse local food and experiencing authentic Halal cuisine.

This programme offers an immersive exploration of Malaysia’s rich Halal food industry, cultural heritage, and historical sites.
Designed to blend education with tourism, participants will experience the diversity of Malaysia’s Halal ecosystem from Halal-certified food production to traditional culinary practices and vibrant cultural experiences.
This journey will provides firsthand insights into Malaysian Halal certification, industry best practices, and the country’s deep-rooted Islamic heritage.
It offers a unique blend of adventure and education, inspiring participants to develop a deeper understanding of Malaysian culture and the Halal ecosystem.

Activities
Participants will engage in:
i) Guided visits to Halal-certified factories, gaining firsthand insight into processing, certification, and quality assurance practices.
ii) Learning best practices for storage and warehouse management of Halal products.
iii) Visits to traditional markets and cultural hotspots.
iv) Interactive workshops, lectures, and discussions with Halal industry experts and authorities.
v) Discovering Malaysia’s Islamic heritage through visits to historical landmarks, including the state mosque, reflecting the country’s rich religious and cultural legacy.
Package 4: Halal Livestock: From Farm to Fork
This program offers a comprehensive exploration of Halal supply chain, livestock management, and ethical animal handling.
Designed for agriculture, veterinary, and food industry professionals and students.
This program providing participants with firsthand experience in farming activities, halal slaughtering, veterinary practices, and food production.

Edu-tourism meaning
Edutourism has massive prospective for generating jobs and earning a large sum of foreign exchange besides giving an incentive to the country’s generating monetary growth.
Currently, 3.0 million of students studying worldwide from different countries (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 2007).
The number of universities is increasing and so is the intensity of competition in the higher education sector.
The phenomenon of visiting country associated with tourism is emerging form of tourism, sometimes called edu-tourism, is described.
Edutourism in recent times has become a new industry following the trends of other sectors (Nabib, 2006). Internationally, the potential market of edutourism industry is now a multi-billion dollar business for many education institutions (Cheung, Yuen, Yuen & Cheng, 2011).

Edu-tourism industry includes educational institutions, and ancillary agencies located either in tourist destination regions and or at destinations that combine enhancing learning experience and stay of edu-tourists which are memorable (Ojo & Yusufu, 2013).
Edutourism, as referred to Ritchie (2003) is mainly undertaken by the tourists for whom education is the primary or secondary part of the trip.
Paul (2003) suggests edutourism should be viewed along a continuum ranging from ‘general interest while traveling’ to ‘purposeful learning and traveling.’
This includes international university studies, general tourism and adult study tours, secondary school students’ travel, and exchange programs.
Edutourism can be independently or formally organized and can be undertaken in a variety of natural or human-made settings (Ritchie, Carr, and Cooper, 2003).

Definition of Edutourism
Originally, the concept of edutourism was developed by the act of traveling for educational reasons which are not new.
The recognition of edutourism in the tourism industry is increasing from time to time (Gibson, 1998; Holdnak & Holland, 1996; Kalinowski, Weiler, & Hall, 1992).
The movement of people from one place to another for the sake of using better facilities is seen from thousands of years older.
It refers to a form of tourism in which the participants travel to a location outside their home places of domicile with the primary purpose of gaining a learning experience (Jomane & Luis, 1986).
Additionally, edutourism can be a person traveling for vocational purposes such as engaging in an educational activity or program (Bhuiyan, Islam, Siwar, & Ismail, 2010). Edutourism is to engage in an educational activity or program while traveling abroad.

Edupelancongan adalah suatu perjalanan untuk tujuan pendidikan formal mahupun tidak formal. Edupelancongan juga merupakan pembelajaran sepanjang hayat dalam persekitaran semula jadi, sejarah dan budaya yang unik.

Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya (MOTAC) melalui agensinya Tourism Malaysia melancarkan program Edu+ bertujuan memartabatkan sektor edupelancongan negara.
40 juta pakej edutourism telah dijual – Khairul
Timbalan Menteri Pelancongan, Seni Dan Budaya berkata hampir 40juta pakej edu tourism telah dijual kepada pelanggan dan seramai 19,000 pelajar dijangka mengambil peluang pakej untuk tahun 2024 dengan pulangan RM95 juta.
Edu+ bakal tingkatkan industri pelancongan Malaysia
“Inisiatif ini juga sejajar dengan matlamat pelancongan Malaysia yang lebih luas menjelang Tahun Melawat Malaysia 2026, kempen nasional yang bertujuan menarik 23.5 juta pelancong dan RM147.1 bilion dalam penerimaan pelancongan,” katanya di majlis pelancaran Edu+ di sini, hari ini.

Tourism Malaysia Launches Edu+ Programme To Boost Edutourism And Cultural Exchange
KUALA LUMPUR, 9 October 2024 – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture through its agency Tourism Malaysia proudly announces the launch of the highly anticipated Edu+ programme, an initiative aimed at elevating Malaysia’s edutourism sector.
This initiative targets students, especially those under the age of 16, who hold tourist visas to pursue short-term education programmes while vacationing in Malaysia. Developed in collaboration with the National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI), a well-established organisation with over 36 years of experience, Edu+ reflects the synergy between the tourism and education sectors to create unique learning opportunities.

Edutourism @ Pusat Penyelidikan Tasik Chini
Tasik Chini has initiated knowledge-based programs in order to promote and provide site-specific knowledge and experiences. Since its inception in 2009, a total of 14 programs have been conducted up to August 2013 during the pre-dossier preparation, pre-establishment, and post establishment.
Each program provided a thematic understanding of the Biosphere Reserve. To ensure visitors have a satisfactory experience, each program was tailor-made according to the educational background, travel motives, and duration of the visit.

PEKAN: Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) menerima kehadiran pelancong antarabangsa dari lapan negara menerusi program pelancongan pendidikan (edutourism), sejak enam tahun lalu.
